MUSIC, ART, FILM, and social justice – Tropika is a gathering of minds, music and morals.
Born out of Singapore, Tropika is an interdisciplinary initiative where global rhythms mix with societal matters. With the aim to promote mindfulness on inclusivity, sustainability and well-being, each event is carefully curated to consciously explore the key themes of Tropika.
From live music performances to DJ acts, film to art, and panel discussions to interviews, the goal is to provide sonic and mental stimulation in the hopes of enriching communities and help people make better informed decisions.
Music, Art and Film
The aim is to offer people in Singapore opportunities to experience a wide variety of global music performances, both daytime and late night ones, at exciting and cool venues. The posters offer a glimpse into the art created by inspiring local and international visual artists, and the goal is to showcase films of various genres in the near future.
Inclusivity
Even in diverse communities, inequality remains pervasive. People may occasionally face economic, political and social challenges as a result of discriminatory practices to misinformation, to name a few. By addressing topics such as encouraging tolerance and discrediting stereotypes, employment, equal rights for education, and immigration Tropika aims to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate in well informed decision-making processes.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a hot topic universally. Be it in relation to economic, environmental or social aspects, plenty of discussions and efforts are ongoing. In relation to climate change, and specifically the use of plastic, it is widely known that the future is not looking promising. Tropika believes in raising awareness and educating best practices so that communities can better work together towards creating long term sustainable living conditions.
Wellness
Wellness as a concept is about more than just being free of illness. It relates to all imaginable aspects; emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual. From food wellness to caring for the aging population, Tropika focuses on discouraging unethical modes of food production and exploitative distribution practices, and on ensuring stability and social mobility for future generations.
