Taking cues from jazz, soul and Afro-Latin music from an early age, the effervescent Gabriele Poso, a multi-instrumental talent, has nurtured his musical reach around the world for many years. Growing up in Lecce in the bottom of the boot heel in Italy, not far from mother Africa, explains his inspiration and deep love for the percussion. Gabriele’s formative years took him from Rome to Puerto Rico and Havana. The years of understanding and crafting his musical knowledge earned him the role as musical director for Yoruba Soul Orchestra with the Grammy award winning DJ/Producer Oslunade.
As a collaborator and a producer, Gabriele has worked on releases with Boddhi Satva, Dj Jazzy Jeff, Louie Vega, just to name a few. Since 2008 Gabriele has released ten LPs with labels including Yoruba and BBE records which landed him an invitation to Worldwide FM for a live segment with Gilles Peterson. Most recently Gabriele returned to BBE records with the release of his latest LP ‘Awakening’. The name of the LP is in reference to his wife and son, the biggest sources of inspiration in his life. Awakening is a beautiful and spiritual collection of music layered with Gabriele’s distinctive touches and production with guest performances from a talented group of friends.
